The R1 is an icon. Proven on the track, it has won the WorldSBK championship, two endurance racing world championships, and numerous national championships in the last decade alone. Inspired by the YZR-M1 MotoGP motorcycle, the R1 RACE achieves an even higher level of track performance with new aerodynamic wings, upgraded suspension, and a Brembo braking system.
FEATURES
New wings, inspired by MotoGP
Aerodynamic winglets in the style of the MotoGP class, mounted on top of the main fairing, were designed and developed based on technical feedback from the Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP team.
The wings are made of carbon fiber to be as light as possible, while also providing strength and stiffness, thus not only creating grip but also offering a better sense of stability with front-end feedback.
New generation KYB front forks
The new 43mm KYB upside-down front forks have been completely redesigned and now feature individual rebound and compression damping adjustments on the left and right fork tubes, with two-way adjustability.
Each fork leg now has a base valve designed to optimize cylinder pressure by restricting or completely preventing oil flow to the lower fork, ensuring better damping response, traction feel, and stability in all conditions.
Higher level of Brembo system braking performance
Responsive and high-performance new front brake system with Brembo master cylinder and Stylema calipers delivers the R1 racing model's higher level of braking power.
The radial master cylinder has a piston that moves in a direction parallel to the brake lever's travel, exerting linear pressure as the rider pulls the lever, while the Styleme lightweight brake calipers are designed to allow optimized airflow for efficient cooling and reduce brake fade on the track.
Fully adapted for the track, with all road components removed
The R1 race model is delivered track-ready and does not include road-legal components. This not only reduces the R1's weight but also increases comfort when you wheel it into the pit, ready for its first run on the track. The passenger seat has been replaced with a dedicated cover.
New non-slip seat cover
The brand new seat cover material with its novel texture offers better grip while allowing the rider to easily shift their weight. In corners, this helps the rider feel more connected to their R1 and contributes to the familiar feeling of chassis stability.
998cc 4-valve engine with linear torque
The key feature of the R1's 998cc inline-four engine is its crossplane crankshaft with uneven firing intervals, which delivers strong, linear torque. Combined with a high-efficiency intake system and specially designed finger-follower rocker arms, this race-bred engine provides outstanding performance at all RPMs.
Refined electronic package
Advanced electronic rider aids on the R1 racing model, powered by intelligence derived from MotoGP, featuring a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), include Traction Control (TCS), Slide Control (SCS), Brake Control (BC), Lift Control (LIF), Launch Control (LCS), and Engine Brake Management (EBM) with three modes. Additionally, the R1 RACE boasts Yamaha's latest Quickshift System (QSS) and Power Mode (PWR) selections.
Electronic gas setting system with APSG ride-by-wire
Yamaha's electronic throttle control system (YCC-T) incorporates a high-tech throttle assembly that provides a natural feel for precise control. The lightweight, ride-by-wire electronic throttle assembly with an APSG (auto-blip throttle sensor grip) spring, slider, and gear provides a smooth and seamless feel for immediate throttle response.
