Most common questions
When to have a vessel inspection for registration?
You must have the boat inspected at least every 5 years!
Periodic regular boat inspections are carried out as follows:
- For personal use every 5 years.
- For commercial boats, every 2 years.
- Public passenger transport – 1 year.
How to check when it expires?
On your vessel's registration certificate, you can always check when your sailing permit is valid or when you will need to have your next regular boat inspection.
Who can perform a boat inspection?
If your vessel is less than 12 meters long, it can be inspected by the Slovenian Maritime Administration or an authorized classification society, while vessels longer than that can only be inspected by an authorized classification society.
Where can I get a regular boat inspection?
The Slovenian Maritime Administration carries out inspections of boats up to 12 meters in length at its headquarters in Koper and its branches in Izola and Piran, which means it can also be a logistic challenge and quite expensive.
