A new dimension of sporty driving: MT
Join a new dimension of the Japanese dark side with its manual transmission (MT) setup, featuring smooth and sporty finger-tip gear changes via touch of the left handlebar-mounted toggle switch. The speed and precision of each gear change are more consistent than using the latest quick-shifter system, increasing the excitement and adrenaline in the sportiest driving conditions.
The experience of fully automatic shifting: Automatic transmission
In the ‘Automatic Transmission’ (AT) setting, choose between two modes that suit different driving scenarios. For a more energetic drive, you can select D+ mode, which offers sporty and aggressive gear changes with shifting at all RPMs. For long-distance or city driving, D mode provides a smoother gear-shifting experience.
Intuitive, simpler operation
Easily switch between manual and automatic transmission while driving with the intuitively placed AT/MT button on the top right of the handlebar. Gear changes in manual transmission are done via a toggle switch at your fingertips on the left hand, with the option to shift using your index finger and thumb, or just one finger. In AT, switch between D+ and D with the dedicated thumb MODE button.
Smart key system
The smart key system, which is part of the premium features of the MT-09 Y-AMT model, allows you to start riding immediately and easily if the smart key is within a specified range, such as in your pocket.
Agile and versatile
The MT-09 Y-AMT model is an agile and versatile motorcycle designed to be the perfect tool, whether you're looking for an energetic and sporty afternoon ride or a more relaxed cruise. The MT is designed to deliver the maximum thrill of the MT-09's sporty character on twisting roads, with quick and smooth gear shifts that allow for extreme focus on cornering, braking, and throttle application. The automatic transmission provides a sporty ride, with D+ mode set for more energetic riding while D mode is designed to be suitable for city riding and commuting.
Driving position for a more immersive experience
The MT-09 model is known for its agility and stability due to its refined ergonomics, allowing the rider to feel as one with the motorcycle, offering greater freedom of movement for various riding styles – which you can enjoy to a higher degree thanks to the Y-AMT system. The handlebar position has two adjustable settings, and the footpegs are also adjustable. The two-piece seat further enhances the feeling of freedom while riding.
5-inch color TFT display with connectivity and navigation
The 5-inch color TFT instrument panel offers a choice of four different themes to suit your individual requirements and riding conditions, which can be navigated with intuitive handlebar switches. You can also connect your smartphone to the TFT display via the MyRide app to receive notifications for messages, calls, and listen to music*. Full-map navigation is also available via the free Garmin StreetCross program, making every ride easier. *Requires Bluetooth headphones connected to the MT-09 Y-AMT. Headphones are not included.
Latest EU5+ compliant 890cc CP3 engine
An exceptional liquid-cooled three-cylinder engine is lightweight and powerful, providing more torque at low RPMs. The acoustic harmony, born from the combination of intake sound and exhaust note, gives the CP3 a distinctive growl, enhancing the feeling of acceleration. And with the sport shifting enabled by the Y-AMT system, you can experience the CP3 engine even more authentically.
Adaptive ride modes with Yamaha Ride Control settings
Customize your ride experience with Yamaha Ride Control (YRC), which works in conjunction with Y-AMT, allowing you to select the characteristics of the power unit and the level of electronic intervention according to your preferences and road conditions. Three integrated riding modes are programmed with factory settings to suit different situations: SPORT, STREET and RAIN; however, you can also create two custom programs to suit your individual preferences. YRC settings can be adjusted directly on the dashboard menu or on your smartphone via the MyRide app.
Compact die-cast aluminum frame
The compact die-cast aluminum frame (controlled filling) is a modern take on the iconic Deltabox design, offering high chassis rigidity for exceptional rider feedback and stability. The optimized swingarm pivot structure, along with the light and slim chassis, provides a more relaxed feel, making the MT-09 Y-AMT a partner for all types of riding. Adding less than 3 kg to the motorcycle, the Y-AMT system is one of the lightest on the market and also does not add width to the engine, preserving the MT-09's light and sporty character.
Brembo radial master cylinder
For the high torque and acceleration of the MT-09 Y-AMT model, excellent braking power is provided by a radial master cylinder from Brembo, which ensures linear hydraulic pressure delivery to the four-piston brake calipers mounted on 298mm dual front discs, enabling exceptional braking performance and fingertip control.
