Following its world premiere at the Boot Düsseldorf 2026 boat show, the Grand G980 made its Slovenian debut at Internautica 2026 in Portorož, where we at Moto-Nautika also launched it into the water for the first time and tested its performance at sea.
The Grand G980 represents the new flagship model of the Grand Boats brand and shows at first glance that this is not an ordinary RIB. It is an impressive 10-meter vessel designed for those who expect more from navigation – more space, more comfort, more power, and more prestige.
First test drive
At Internautica 2026, we tested it for the very first time in Slovenian waters. From the very first meters of navigation, the Grand G980 demonstrated its main advantage—exceptional stability and confident behavior at sea. The advanced Twin Step hull enables a smooth and comfortable ride even at higher speeds, as well as excellent handling characteristics in more demanding conditions.
The test model is equipped with two Yamaha F350 engines with a total output of 700 hp, the Helm Master EX system, and a bow thruster, which enables extremely precise maneuvering and complete control when docking or slow cruising in the marina. Despite its dimensions, the vessel feels light, and the handling remains precise and intuitive.
Completed design
In addition to its performance, the Grand G980 also impresses with its sophisticated design and onboard comfort. A spacious cabin with a double berth, a separate marine toilet, and an outdoor galley with a refrigerator, stove, and sink allow for carefree enjoyment at sea even during multi-day trips. Another special feature of the vessel is the modular aft section, which quickly transforms from a comfortable seating area into a large sun deck.
Large central console with a high windshield and two 16-inch displays further emphasizes the premium character of the vessel. In the G980 model, GRAND has combined a sporty character, luxury elements, and the practicality that users expect from a modern high-end day cruiser.
Internautica 2026 was such a perfect opportunity for the first real contact of the Grand G980 model with the Slovenian sea. The initial impressions more than confirmed that this is a vessel that will set new standards in the premium RIB segment.
